US justice condemns drug baron “El Chapo” in perpetuity

Unsurprisingly, Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman, known as El Chapo, was sentenced on Wednesday, July 17, to life in New York. This sentence was accompanied by an additional 30 years in prison.

Lawyers for the most powerful drug smuggler since the end of the Colombian era Pablo Escobar, in 1993, announced that they would appeal this conviction.

Joaquin Guzman, 62, has smuggled at least 1,200 tons of cocaine into the United States over the past 25 years.
